U-Pick Peonies, Spring 2027

Why Peonies?

Sarah really loved peonies, and we actually have some of hers still growing in the yard at the farmhouse. My Granny also grew peonies in her yard and we cut some of those to feature in my wedding florals due to supply with my wedding being so close to Mother’s Day. Most importantly, this decision came down to agriculture needs. Farms are changing in the US, and many farms have to diversify to make it as a small or medium sized operation.

Flower farming is one of the fastest growing areas of US agriculture as trends shift. Currently around 80% of cut flowers sold in the US are sourced out of the country. US farmers would like to help reduce that. We chose peonies because they are hardy, reliable, and have a family connection that runs deep. However, peonies are a “wait and wait some more” kind of crop. They don’t give you a true harvest the first year, and you’ll only have a small crop the second year - so we knew we were playing the long game. But sometimes the best things take a little time.

The wait is almost over.

Spring 2027 is our (hopeful) debut for our U-pick fields for local patrons. We hope that wholesale crops will start to become viable in 2028 and we’ll keep expanding from there. Our flowers are planted by hand, with a lot of love and care. We want to provide the area with stunning florals at an affordable price for direct to customer, wholesale accounts, and local florists.
